Summary: IDEAL mode no longer allows two panels to share the same
                    side
           Product: kate
           Version: 2.4
          Platform: unspecified
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
        AssignedTo: kwrite-devel kde org
        ReportedBy: danstemporaryaccount yahoo ca

Version: 2.4 (using KDE 3.4.0, Gentoo)
Compiler: gcc version 3.4.3-20050110 (Gentoo Linux 3.4.3.20050110-r1, \
                ssp-3.4.3.20050110-0, pie-8.7.7)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.10-gentoo-r6

In KDE3.3 and lower, you could move the "Filesystem Browser" panel to the left side, \
and then move the "Documents" panel to the left as well, placing it *under* the \
Filesystem Browser. This is no longer the current behaviour. Instead, dragging the \
Documents panel to the lower left, gives you the outline, hinting that it would place \
itself *below* the Filesystem browser, but when you release the mouse button, the \
Brower turns into a tab and the Documents window now takes up the entire left side.

However, if you click the little up-left arrow in the same panel, un-docking the \
documents panel from the Kate main window and creating a separate window, you can \
then drag the Browser panel into the new window and it places itself above or below \
the Documents Panel. Unfortunately though, at this point, you can't drag the two \
windows together back into the main layout.

Please confirm with me that this is a bug and not a feature... I simply can't \
function easily with one panel taking up the entire left side of the screen. \
