I can confirm that this is not a Linux kernel issue. I am experiencing the same
problem on FreeBSD 7.2-STABLE / KDE4.3.0 (OpenGL compositing on) / NVIDIA
GF6800GS, 256MB.

Driver is official NVIDIA release for FreeBSD x86, v 185.18.[29|36].
