It really depends on the device vendor. If the device vendor is a PDA
vendor, then the device tends to be marketed as a PDA, because that's what
they understand. The same applies to phone vendors. Since Sony Ericsson is
a phone vendor, I'd say the P800 is a phone with PDA capabilities, while
something like the Handspring Treo is a PDA with phone capabilities. That's
my take on it, anyhow.

This I don't know. I live in Canada, and things work differently here --
most phones are locked for use with a specific carrier, so you'd definitely
need a SIM card from that carrier. Nobody here has announced support for
the P800 yet. The carrier would have to support GPRS, and I'm pretty sure
GPRS support is available everywhere in the UK now, but someone else on this
list who actually knows can tell you if this is true or not.

Of course, what I'd really like for use as my everyday phone is something
like the Sony Ericsson T62u, which is a J2ME-enabled phone with digital AND
analog support, because I occasionally drive in analog-only areas. Alas,
none of the four carriers here support it....
