And does display picture, custom emoticon, ...  works, with recent MSN 
Messenger, old msn messenger, kopete ?

That's the objective of the exclam mark that appears, to signal a problem, and 
remind the contact to ask the authorisation again.
I don't know if the bug is in Kopete, in a Jabber server, or a flaw in the 
protocol itself, but sometimes,there are some authorisation problems.

I personally think it should be included by default in the alpha/beta
If there are problem , you can --disable-jingle


Another problem is that jingle uses a library called mediastreamer that use 
alsa dirrectly.  it doesn't work on my dekstop.
It could be nice if we could use something like arts.
jingle use a good abstraction layer to handle the multimedia part. but if we 
want to re-implement a new engine, we also need to take care about all codecs 
which is far from trivial.
Note that the psi team has started a PortAudio engine.

what do you mean ?

Some point :
 - would be nice if the old Kopete theme could be ported,  it's kind of Kopete 
identity, that theme was there since the beginning.

 - The missing feature is coloured contacts !   
      please use that feature when making theme,  specially one for IRC
