On my box it already a problem when I am supposed to receive only a single special
character. I read a lot about the encoding problems. Isn't there a way of just
wrapping every incoming message before it gets handled (by whatever plugin / protocol)??
Like checking if it has correct encoding settings, and if not, guess, fix and make it at
least safe enough to be displayed. A box or "?" is better than nothing at all.
But I think you guys already had hat discussion...  Maybe I find some time to track down
the difference the string undergoes during its way through the plugins...
