Well, but account!=protocol. This is not about protocol, it's about account. 
Group by account is very usefull for me because I have two ICQ accounts, one 
for bussines, one for my personal contacts.

No. Not at all.

No. I cannot have nested groups. This would not allow me to group my bussines 
contacts say by the company and still have them grouped together.

I still think that "Group by account" is a valid choice, but if it's just me, 
go ahead, remove it, I can keep it in my local copy, I don't really care.
