Summary: Small problems in the WinPopup plugin.
Product: kopete
Version: 0.6.1a
Platform: SuSE RPMs
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: wishlist
Priority: NOR
Component: WinPopup Plugin
AssignedTo: kopete-devel@kde.org
ReportedBy: jeremy.hooks@dsl.pipex.com
Version: 0.6.1a (using KDE KDE 3.1.1)
Installed from: SuSE RPMs
OS: Linux
I have just started using the WinPopup plugin in Kopete (connected to a MS-Windows 98 \
computer), and I have noticed a couple of small irregularities. Firstly, although \
you send messages to a hostname, they are recieved from username. Secondly, the \
message is terminated by a NUL character (which cause an unsightly sqaure at the end \
of the message). I found that both these problems could be fixed quite easily, as \
follows:
1. Changing the entry that is added to the smb.conf so that the hostname of the \
sender is recorded rather than the username i.e. change %f to %m
2. Changed the fourth line of winpopup-send.sh so that it is piped through \
translate, in order to change the NUL at the end of the message to a linefeed i.e. \
cat "$1" | tr "\000" "\012" >> /tmp/.winpopup-new
Is there any chance these changes could be included in future versions of Kopete?
BTW, although I using quite an old version of Kopete (0.6.1a), I have checked the \
lastest version (0.7.1) and the situation appears unchanged.
Regards.
Jeremy.
