just caught this on UNIX Review... that you folks might be interested:

spoiler: the author likes Kopete and has a lot of good things to say about it. 
gaim edged it out by a small margin due to Yahoo not being enabled in the 
last stable release, and Jabber being broken (at least at the time of the 
writing?) in CVS. basically Kopete fell a bit short in terms of "current 
functionality and reliability"

still, the author gives Kopete a rather glowing review, said he was drawn to 
it for how it looks and works and that it is the one to watch out for in KDE 
3.2 =)
