Bring up Konqueror's Settings > Configure Shortcuts... , scroll or search for
"Clear Location Bar".

The icon for this is a white x in a right-pointing chunk.  But in Kubuntu 9.04
default, the location bar's clear button is a white x in a left-pointing chunk.

Bug 183861 '"clear location bar" button missing' suggests that the problem is
the location bar no longer has its own clear icon, instead it's relying on the
clear icon that's part of KLineEdit.
