Summary: Automatically line up icons option should not re-
organize icons
Product: konqueror
Version: 3.2
Platform: RedHat RPMs
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: wishlist
Priority: NOR
Component: general
AssignedTo: konq-bugs kde org
ReportedBy: cheeth nwlink com
Version: 3.2 (using KDE KDE 3.2.0)
Installed from: RedHat RPMs
OS: Linux
When Konqueror is set to automatically line up icons, saving a file with a \
long filename to the desktop can cause the desktop to re-calculate its \
"grid" and move all of the desktop icons around.
Since desktop icons are probably more likely to be organized vertically \
than horizontally, this almost always messes up any organizational pattern \
the user may have chosen for their icons.
I suggest that the "grid" upon which icons are organized be static--for \
example, room for an icon with two lines of text. All files with longer \
filenames are truncated in some fashion to fit this grid. That way, the \
icons never need to be auto-reorganized because the grid never changes. \
