Subject: html characters 127 to 159 do not display
From: sarefo@yahoo.com

Package: khtml
Version: 3.0 (using KDE 2.2.1 )
Severity: normal
Installed from: SuSE
Compiler: gcc version 2.95.3 20010315 (SuSE)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.4.4-4GB
OS/Compiler notes:

first, i am not really sure this is a khtml problem. it goes like this:

some characters within the range of 127 to 159 are displayed as empty rectangles.

i understand this could be a problem with the fonts, because if you check a character \
table of a font, empty slots are presented as these empty rectangles.

i am using mostly truetype fonts, but these same fonts work in winDO$ (for example \
verdana).

while in opera, all the characters from 127 to 159 are rectangled, in konqueror (with \
font Monotype.com or courier new), only some of those are missing; comma, different \
quotation marks and some more symbols are there.

sometimes, they missing symbols are displayed as question marks, i guess.

it did not occur in earlier versions of kde (< 2.1, if i remember right), but then \
again, the problem could be the XFree86 version: i switched from 3.x to 4.x from kde \
2.1 on.

would be interesting to find a source for this problem.
