I'm not sure if the write protection should be released in any case... the 
edited text would be overwritten by the plug in later on... I think the 
visible contents of a field should be entirely managed by the plugin... but 
there should of course be a possibility to convert a field to plain text 
(it could be edited then, but the field as such would of course be lost).
