Since some days (maybe a week), the new QRichtext-based KWord
is in the HEAD branch of CVS.

It's not yet complete (quite far from it), but it starts to be useable,
and the old KWord got a bit broken in HEAD, that's why it's been replaced.

You can give it a quick test like "alpha testing", but don't flood us
with bug reports just yet - we're concentrating on the core features
at the moment (formatting, styles, frames, etc.)

One important point is that the file format has slightly changed: most of it
has stayed the same (say, 90%), but we've finally got rid of this
"same distance expressed in 3 units" stuff, and a few other illogisms.
Of course KWord can read previous versions of the file format,
but this is important for authors of export filters : the XML given by
KWord to the filter has changed so the filter needs an update.
No that important for authors of import filters, since KWord can cope with
the old format. A small cleanup can't hurt though.

The DTD in koffice/kword/dtd/kword.dtd should be up to date,
so you can dig info from there on the file format.
