I think that is a good idea. Instead of customizing the application
itself, the shape, or more precisely the tool, could adjust itself to
the application. A simple check for the app being a single-shape one
would suffice.

Then, for example, the tool could show more advanced options, put
actions in menus instead of the tool widget, and/or spread itself over
the toolbar.

Is that doable in terms of usability? Or would it violate KOffice's
definition of what a tool can do?
