Hi everybody,

As you may remember, I and Claire Lotion tried to organize a hack weekend to
improve the ODF -- OpenDocument Format -- support of KOffice last fall.
However, it never became a reality, mostly because we could never find a
place to be.

Well, now we have managed to find such a place, namely the KDAB offices in
Berlin. KDAB, the company of Kalle Dalheimer, where David Faure and lots of
other Qt/KDE hackers work, have promised to let us use their office and other
resources in May.

So everybody who wants to participate in a programming sprint, please answer
this mail. We have reserved the weekend 12th-13th May as our main
alternative, but if too many people can't come, we could change it to 5th-6th
of May instead.

David Faure, our representative at the OASIS OpenDocument Technical Committee,
has already agreed to come and act as an expert on ODF itself and the
internals of the KOffice ODF implementation. Other than him, we would really
like to see the maintainers of the KOffice applications as well as all other
programmers who have an interest in making the ODF support of KOffice as good
as possible. We will also need some people to document and test the
implementations on a continuous basis.

We have talked to the board of the KDE e.V, and have been promised that they
will look favorably on an application for this. Thus, we will probably be
able to pay the trip, food and lodging for all participants. Therefore, we
need some kind of indication of how much a return trip will cost you to come
to the sprint. You can arrange either to arrive friday afternoon and stay
two nights or to arrive saturday and stay one night. Of course, just staying
one day is also possible, but then you won't need anywhere to stay.

So, to summarize:
If you want to participate, see if the weekend of 12th-13th of May is good for
you. If not, then check the 5th-6th of May. If you can come, then also find
out how much it will cost you for the trip to Berlin. Then answer this mail
with that information.

I and Claire will take this information and quickly make a request for
reimbursement to the e.V board. If we get an OK, which we think we will, we
will take care of everything except to buy your tickets.

Well met!

	-Inge and Claire
