gconf is an entire config system, kconfigeditor is a graphical app to edit 
settings directly outside of apps themselves that uses kconfig(+kconfigxt) 
and optionally gconf files to access, display and store these settings

it would be quite nice to see this app get some love as it's a very useful 
tool regardless of the number of features used since it allows editing of 
large numbers of settings across many apps in one power-user friendly 
interface.
