Perhaps this is the cause, the nativeness of English speaking. Back
then, I never noticed any confusion among friends and colleagues (they
are not native speaker) as those files are simply referred as "Excel
files".

BTW, I agree that more usability assessment should be done with
respect to terms. We might as well conduct real users survey. We can
also try to find out what official Excel manuals and/or other Excel
learning books say about important terms.
