Yeah, I have changed my mind about this. I thought it would be more consistent if
the color button would work like all other text-formatting toolbar elements
(the font name combo, font size combo, bold button etc. all show the formatting
of the text in front of the cursor, so I made the color button do the same).
But enough people requested that it works differently (remembering the last
selected color, to be able to apply that quickly, and that means not showing
the formatting of the text at the cursor... I guess that's because it's easy 
enough to see what color has the text at the cursor; unlike e.g. font size).

So, OK from me. But you probably need to remove a similar line from kpresenter too.
