Which dialog? The suggestions are in a submenu, not in a dialog...

Could it be that you're talking about the "check this word's spelling" menu item,
which is in fact the separate spellcheck plugin?
It seems that that one screws up the event loop indeed.... Or maybe it's unrelated,
but the popup is indeed often unusable with the mouse (while it works with
the keyboard).  Hmm. Too complex to fix for 1.3.1, especially since HEAD 
will - hopefully soon - get Zack's lib instead....
