I.E multiple layer, where a layer be of multiple types (image, text,
vector data).
Add multiple pages and you have your average DTP application (think
multi-page Karbon ;)

The layer type should be "text", not "font".
Basically you would have to implement most of the rich-text editing
features of KWord.

And what about a layer type "spreadsheet", complete with a calculation
engine ;)

This idea is a rather slippery slope, I think.
