I have met lots of good (genuine) artists, and none of them are eager to read
a manual first. Most are not even going to be better artists after reading
one anyway.
In other words; if the GUI does not replace the need for a manual by being
clear and inviting for newbees; then its going to remain underappreciated
like the Gimp has been.
I hate using it because I can't get things done that I would expect to be
obvious and simple. I have done usability so I blame the application. I know
the majority of users blame themselves for being too stupid to find out.
Thats not good enough (IMOHO) for a KOffice application :)
Manuals are for programmers and administrators, not for users.
