Hmm... I have Ghostscript 7.05. And it was glyphshow not showglyph :-).

Yes.

One more test:
(text-\201-text) show
is converted by ps2ascii to:
text-A,-text
this comma could be considered an ogonek. Such a document won't display/print 
properly because it lacks an encoding vector but I will try to add it and 
check if the whole thing works as expected.
