I guess you're talking about the xpdf sources in the pdf import filter ?
Note that since xpdf is not intended as being used as a library I had to 
modify a little the sources. Also I am not using the pdftotext binary since 
it is too limited.

I think this should be the right solution...

it's probably better to rely on another channel (the distribution) to install 
a third party binary. Moreover the xpdf from the distribution can be newer 
than the one I use...

I don't see the need for xpdf in kdelibs :)
