Update:

James Treleaven paid for my application to OASIS so that I could represent
KOffice there - thanks James!

However I haven't seen any activity in the working group for the 
open document standard yet...
But now that kde-3.1 is out I can concentrate my KDE time on KOffice (as opposed
to KHTML) so I'll have a look at this file format issue, next thing.
