Did you start the KOffice apps from a terminal window? If an application
can't be launched by any reason, there normally won't be a message box
reporting an error. Instead, the error messages will probably go to the
terminal.
Are you using KDE 1 or KDE 2. Koffice needs KDE 2. You can find it out by
entering a KDE application of your choice and clicking Help->About KDE. If a
Window with a nice little Dragon appears you're using KDE2 and everthing is
fine there. If you're using KDE 1, make sure to have at least kdelibs,
kdebase and kdesupport for kde2 installed (I don't have Redhat, but I guess
these packages are also on CD 2).
