Hiya,

It is currently not possible to create dialogs which are modal to a single 
top-level window. Modal dialogs are always modal with respect to the complete 
application.

Having the ability to manually suspend the processing of user-events on a 
window-by-window base would IMO be a generalized solution to this and some 
other problems. 

Other problems as in: All cases where you are doing an action which should be 
atomic from a UI perspective but during the action you need to call the 
event-handling loop because e.g. you have to wait for an external event (DCOP 
reply?) or e.g. you still want to handle paint-requests during a lengthy 
operation. In these cases you want to be protected against reentrance caused 
by user triggered actions.
