ok, here it is :
you need to remove the path to the kde1.x libs from /etc/ld.so.conf (or
move the libs somewhere else (like /opt/kde1.x/lib))
then modify your X startup scripts so that you
have LD_LIBRARY_PATH including the path to the kde1x libs in this case
ans to the kde2 libs in some other case.
