It needs X libraries, but not necessarily an X connection, once we paint
into an image (Qt4) or a printer (assuming the printer layer doesn't need any
X connection, I didn't check, but I would trust Qt4 more than Qt3 for that too).

Anyway - see the  odf-devel@opendocumentfellowship.org mailing-list,
other people have a similar need and are talking about developing something.

KOffice is still mainly an office suite rather than a server-side document converter :)
