Dear list,

maybe you know the open source book-keeping / enterprise resource management
application called "lx-office". This software is a web-based application
using perl. You can enter accounting data and produce purchase orders and
bills etc by this:

1.) you have to edit and customize a latex file
2.) when you click on "print", the file will be compiled, and if you're lucky
and no error happens, you will get a pdf which you can see on your client
browser / pdf viewer and print from there.

Even though I love latex for my scientific work, I see a certain drawback in
its complexity, especially in office life. ThoughFor this reason, I would
like to write some code which allows handling ODT files.

This, however, would require that the perl code can insert the according data,
generate the odt file and trigger the printing process.

My question:
Is there a possibility that I directly convert an odt file into a postscript
or pdf format, possibly without starting an application with a heavy user
interface? Is there possibly a commandline tool which can convert ODT into PS
or even PDF?

I suppose that I can do this through DCOP using kword, but I still would like
to avoid the GUI as it slows down everything.

Thanks in advance!

Markus
