Hi Alejandro,
I think it's really great that you want to help polish KFormula. In my opinion
KFormula is a component that is "completed" in a basic way, it does what
people expect it to do. But I do agree that it could use - or even needs -
some polishing.
Actually I DO think that helping kformula development is possible without
previous koffice experience. Everyone has to start somewhere. Here is what I
suggest you to do:
* Get the development sourcecode: http://www.koffice.org/download/unstable.php
* Register at the koffice developer mailinglist:
https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/koffice-devel
* Take a look at the sourcecode of kformula. This is splitted into two parts -
the library that is integrated in other components (like KWord) and the
application itself. These are in:
koffice/lib/kformula <-- library (most of the functionality)
koffice/kformula <-- the "KFormula" application, includes the GUI,...
* If you have any questions you can mail the developers at the developer
mailing list (see above). You can also find us almost round the clock on the
#koffice IRC channel on freenode, feel free to say hello and ask for any help
if you need it.
* You have quite a lot of freedom of what you want to improve in KFormula (as
I said, there are no really serious problems, but certainly a few things that
need to be further improved/polished).
* If you want to introduce major changes, please discuss your plans first with
the KOffice developers (preferably the developer mailinglist, but IRC is also
possible).
* When you have made your changes and want to send us a patch, please use:
svn diff > my_patch_file.diff
and send us the patch file (with [PATCH] in the subject) to the koffice
developers list. We will review it and apply the patch if it's ok or ask you
to improve it if it's not ok.
* If you are steadily sending us patches you can also consider applying for a
subversion account, so you can commit the changes yourself. See
http://developer.kde.org/documentation/misc/applysvnaccount.php
