Well well, isn't this answer just a bit too easy ? Linux works the way that 
it's made. On propriety systems, you may say this perhaps.

Stupidity ? What's stupid ?
When a user wants to save his document in "MS Word" format, then he/she has to 
use "Save as". When he/she wants to save in "PDF" format, he/she has to use 
"print". That's stupid !

Or am I just understanding you wrong ? Because I can hardly believe you mean 
it the way I read this.
