I think it's great if you volunteer to help out. Since KOffice consists of
many parts it should also be easy to distribute work between more authors.

A general structure of the book might be:

* introduction
	* what is KOffice
		* what does it have to offer (features,...)
		  / what can be done with KOffice
		  / KOffice and OOo interoperability
		  / areas of deployment
		  / What's about this 'K'?
	* what is KDE
	* what is OSS
	* how to install
		* prerequisites (kdelibs)
		* KOffice on Linux
			* rpm/deb package from Linux distributors
			* from source
		* KOffice on MAC OS X
		* KOffice on Windows (Cygwin(possible?))

* A short introduction to KDE
	* the panel
	* starting KOffice
	* ... ?

* KOffice overview
	* all that's common in all parts including general look&feel

* Wordprocessing with KWord
* Spreadsheets with KSpread
* Presentations with KPresenter
* Flowcharts and Diagrams with Kivio
* Business class reports with Kugar
* Database management with Kexi
* Drawings with Karbon and Krita
	* difference between vector graphics and pixmap(?) graphics
* Utilities KFormula, KChart
* ... ?
* KOffice and other office suites (including interoperability)
	* file format
	* OOo
	* Abiword
	* Gnumeric
	* MS Office
	* Hancom Office
	* older versions of KOffice

* other everyday KDE applications:
	* Kontact
	(* Konqueror)

* future developments

* KDE and KOffice in the internet

* ??

Any suggestions on this general book-structure?

Anyone wants to work on one of these chapters?

You think a book with this structure is interesting for users?

My mother tongue is German. What do you think of a translation to English/
German?

The book will of course cover the next major release of KOffice - the one with
OOo file formats - either 1.4 or 2.0.

I think if the book is well designed (content and look/layout) it will be a
great support for people wanting to use KOffice - or trying to find out which
office suite suites them best.

greetings,
Raphael
