The usual way is :
1) Get KDE HEAD from CVS and compile it (there is a lot of helpful
documentation on developer.kde.org and helpful people on the devel mailing
list or on irc)
2) Find a annoying bug (and they are a lot of them in KOffice :-c)
3) Fix it and send a patch to koffice-devel
4) Get your patch accepted
5) Repeat step 2, 3 and 4 several times
6) Now you know more of the code and you can choose to add a feature or work
on the project that you like most. Some ideas of important work to be done
for KOffice (more information on http://www.koffice.org) :
- Powerpoint import/export fillter for KPresenter
- Excel export filter for KSpread
- Joining the Kexi development team
But that is just my own wish list. Your priorities may be different.
Welcome to the KDE community and cheers (from a non-developer),
Charles
