View / New View does that (after activating the embedded doc)

Editing /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/XftConfig might help.

You didn't mention which version of KOffice you're using ... although ....
Mandrake 9.0 comes with KOffice-1.2, no? If you're using 1.1, update to
1.2 (soon 1.2.1), that's for sure. If you have 1.2 already, see below.

KOffice-1.2 is supposed to do that (it excludes bitmap fonts) ... but not 
in the combobox that's in the toolbar, only in the real font dialog.
But I am still seeing this problem indeed, with KOffice-1.2, and even with other
fonts (the issue of metrics being different when printing is quite hard to solve).
