I'm attempting to compile koffice-1.2,

Redhat 7.3
gcc-c++-3.2
automake-1.7.1
autoconf-2.54
libtool-1.4.2

The problem is the --tag=CXX is not a recognized option to libtool.

source='kwmf.cc' object='kwmf.lo' libtool=yes \
depfile='.deps/kwmf.Plo' tmpdepfile='.deps/kwmf.TPlo' \
depmode=gcc3 /bin/sh ../../admin/depcomp \
/bin/sh ../../libtool --silent --mode=compile --tag=CXX g++ -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I.
-I. -I../.. -I. -I/usr/include/kde -I/usr/lib/qt3-gcc3.2/include
-I/usr/X11R6/include   -DQT_THREAD_SUPPORT  -D_REENTRANT  -Wnon-virtual-dtor
-Wno-long-long -Wbad-function-cast -Wundef -Wall -pedantic -W -Wpointer-arith
-Wmissing-prototypes -Wwrite-strings -ansi -D_XOPEN_SOURCE=500 -D_BSD_SOURCE
-Wcast-align -Wconversion -O2 -O2 -march=i386 -mcpu=i686 -fno-exceptions
-fno-check-new -DQT_CLEAN_NAMESPACE -DQT_NO_ASCII_CAST -DQT_NO_COMPAT
-DKDE_NO_COMPAT  -c -o kwmf.lo `test -f kwmf.cc || echo './'`kwmf.cc
libtool: unrecognized option `--tag=CXX'
Try `libtool --help' for more information.
make: *** [kwmf.lo] Error 1

It us using the libtool in the admin directory.

../../libtool  --version
ltmain.sh (GNU libtool) 1.4.2 (1.922.2.54 2001/09/11 03:33:37)

../../libtool  --help

Does NOT show --tag as a valid option.

I found am_edit script and can edit it, but I'm not sure that is a wise thing to
do. Can someone tell me what the --tag option does? And why is it needed?
