No problem with interprocess communication, DCOP works on those platforms.

There should be almost no porting effort involved, we have people using KDE & KOffice
on those platforms already. 
You might want to subscribe to the kde-solaris mailing-list, in case you
have problems porting to Solaris, and to kde-nonlinux for HPUX problems.
