Hi Thomas,

This mode is a DTP mode (I remember you coined the name 'layout mode') where
you can do things like markup multiple stories ALA newspaper style.
In text mode the main textframe would always be in the way, so its a less 
guided and therefor more free mode of operation.

Naturally if you have additions (besides the stuff David mentioned) we'd like
to hear from you.
