Well, I do not think that EPS is a strong point of KWord.

EPS is considered to be an image in KWord (yes, not a clipart!) and, as far as 
I know, only EPS files without preview work correctly. Nevertheless, you 
probably should have a preview in KWord.

We are unfortunately lacking someone who really knows about EPS files and who 
would be able to clean up the current implementation in KWord/KPresenter.

As for your PDF problem, I am sorry but I have no idea.
