Jost,

I've done this, but in a roundabout way.  What I did was to use a NAT 
conversion to divert the incoming mail to a filter.  In the filter I change 
the "to" address if it is an HTML email, and then I pass the email on.  
Mailman doesn't know anything about it, but of course you need to be running 
on a server of which you have complete control.
