IMAP shold work again.
Possibly you have to remove some files in ~/.kde/share/apps/kmail if you used 
a recent CVS version.

When browsing through IMAP folders, kmail launches many (I had up to 250 slaves \
running) IMAP kio slaves until memory is full.
