I see. Thanks for responding.

Yes the code is a little complicated unfortunately.

Ok, I'll close it. I did fix some bugs in that code, maybe
I got lucky and fixed it.

Don.

has caused the attached bug report to be marked as done.

This means that you claim that the problem has been dealt with.
If this is not the case it is now your responsibility to reopen the
bug report if necessary, and/or fix the problem forthwith.

(NB: If you are a system administrator and have no idea what I'm
talking about this indicates a serious mail system misconfiguration
somewhere. Please contact me immediately.)

Subject: kmail sends SMTP mail repeatedly
From: ian@stams.strath.ac.uk

Package: kmail
Version: 1.2 (using KDE 2.1.1 )
Severity: normal
Installed from: RedHat RPMs
Compiler: gcc-2.96-81
OS: Linux
OS/Compiler notes: RH 7.1 default

I replied to a simple text email, and on
clicking "Send" kmail went into a tight
loop sending the message to the SMTP
server again and again. I had to
kill the kmail process to stop it.
This is similar to bug #25815 which was
closed on assumption it was a sendmail
problem (sorry I didn't know how to re-open it). We use qmail-smtpd here (1.01).

I have used kmail for 2 years or so and never had this problem. I've been using
kde-2.1.1 with RH7.1 for about a month
and it's only happened once - so maybe
it is a problem that only arises when there
is something up with the smtp server?
Anyway - kmail shouldn't (MUST NOT!)
send a message again and again without
limit whatever the cause.

Thanks for your time and many thanks
for the effort on kmail - much appreciated!

Yours
Ian
