This is a known X-server bug. Nothing, that can be fixed in KMail.

Disable font antialiasing and it should work.

Michael Häckel

Subject: selecting too many users in addressbook as sender crashes kmail
From: georgz@iplanet.com

Package: kmail
Version: unbekannt (using KDE 2.2.0 alpha2)
Severity: normal
Installed from: compiled sources
Compiler: gcc version 2.96 20000731 (Linux-Mandrake 8.1 2.96-0.50mdk)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.2.19-10mdk
OS/Compiler notes:

This is CVS version of Tuesday, 26th June.

I use kaddressbook as the addressbook for kmail. To reproduce do the following:

- Open new mail editor
- Open addressbook
- Select many users (~20)
- Click on ok

Then kmail crashes. Unfortunately I don't have compiled with debug enabled, but here \
is the traceback output anyways:

Since then I cannot restart kmail anymore. I removed all temp files and config files \
and restarted kde, but kmail keeps crashing at startup:
