No, folder compaction works just right, it doesn't have any effects on our
problem.

Installed straight from the rpms provided for redhat 7.0 i downloaded from
ftp.kde.org.
I'd really like to found out what the problem is, can you give me at least
some suggestions on what/where to look for? 
Or, I'll have to ready myself for another sleepless night looking at the
source code ... Or would that time be spent wiser playing with Aethera or
some other MUA?
