You guys do realize this problem is probably due to the stricter file locking 
changes, which were implemented to prevent mail loss, right?

Several people have reported the same problem, I have told them

Probably using one of the mutt dotlocking programs mentioned in that url 
would be the best idea.

You might also like to read the mail file locking comments by Mark Crispin 
(pine author) and JWZ (netscape mail <= 3 lead developer) I pointed them out 
before on this list but searching for dot locking on google should turn them 
up.
