I am experiencing that too.
For me kmail only crashes sometimes on imap folders.
And then only the deails and configuration of these folders are lost.

For example, I have a folder subfolder on my imap server called kopete and one called \
kmail.

Then kmail crashes two times and I expect it to crash on a "per folder base".
Then all the configs of these folders are lost.

I also noticed that it seems to crash only on folders with quite an amount of mails. \
I think there were always more than 100 mails in it. \
