Hi there Andreas

Yes, it's the message filter which is located on top and to the right of the message \
list.

While investigating a way to replicate the bug (it happened to me a lot but I only \
decided to submit the bug today) I stumbled on something which is a bug but I don't \
know if it can be considered directly related to this bug report.

What happened was that I had two emails in my inbox. Only one was unread. I selected \
the unread one and switched the message filter list to "unread". Then, I deleted the \
unread mail. What happened was that although no message was listed in the message \
list (due to the filter), kmail automatically opened the unread message.

About the "folder switching", the filter is indeed switched back to "any status". \
Unfortunately, when I select the previous folder, the filter doesn't switch back to \
the selected filter. Apparently that means that the filter always defaults to "any \
status" and doesn't pay attention to the user's choices. IMHO kmail would improve a \
lot if the filter state which the user selected was always preserved. \
