Summary: Changing between IMAP folders is incredible slow (for
folders with more than 50 messages)
           Product: kmail
           Version: 1.7.2
          Platform: unspecified
        OS/Version: FreeBSD
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
        AssignedTo: kmail-devel kde org
        ReportedBy: kde schmalzbauer de

Version: 1.7.2 (using KDE 3.3.2, compiled sources)
Compiler: gcc version 3.4.2 [FreeBSD] 20040728
OS: FreeBSD (i386) release 5.3-STABLE

kmail can't handle IMAP folders with more than 50 messages in acceptable time.
I have several folders, each with about 2000 Mails and just choosing a different \
folder (let's say my current working folder is INBOX and I want to change to SENT (by \
clicking on Sent) takes longer than OutlookExpress needs to download the complete \
headers of the folder (I recognized this dramatic impact because I had a windows \
machine here and needed to view a specific message and found out that a folder change \
in kmail as described above takes 20 seconds and OE managed to display the INBOX of \
the new created account in about 15 Seconds, while it had to download all headers \
first. Changing folders in OE (on exactly the same HW of course) takes 0s (not \
measurable) while the same action takes ~2 seconds in Thunderbird and about 20 \
seconds with kmail). I made sure that there's nothing wrong with any setup and like \
described above, other programs can handle the same folders from the same server with \
the same hardware connected via the same network (100BaseTX) very well. \
