Ehh... Very strange.

First, if you close Kmail this way, the following line disappears from the ps ax \
list: 17844 ?        S      0:01 kmail -caption KMail -icon kmail -miniicon kmail

but the following one remains:
17848 ?        S      0:00 kdeinit: kio_pop3 pop3s \
/tmp/ksocket-fauvel/klauncherB6WJqb.slave-socket /tmp/ksocket-fauvel/kmail...

And on another machine running the same levels of software, the bug doesn't appear \
(the Trash empties correctly). Both are running KDE on top of Debian, using the \
Debian packages manager (apt) to keep them up to date. \
