Actually there is a much easier way:
If you open the folder with kernel->filterMgr()->tempOpenFolder() it is 
automatically closed again, when the transfer is finished in 
KMAcctImap::displayProgress(). This is already used elsewhere with IMAP.

Maybe IMAP should however have it's own list of open folders independant of 
the filtering to prevent unwanted closing if serveral things happen at the 
same time.
