I've got a Q here. Since uuencode/uudecode is the inferior method,
base64 having been the choice because of its increased robustness
when the MIME specs were standardized, of what utility is support
of an obsolete transport method?

IMO it only prolongs the agony of an encoding method thats
potentially broken on some platforms because of its use of
punctuation characters. It (uu code) should be allowed to die
peacefully. Its been obsolete for what, 15 years now?
